Temperature limits for preservation of primary calcite clumped isotope paleotemperatures

化石の腕足類のカルサイト殻中の結晶のC-Oの再配列（reordering）によってclumped isotope絶対温度計が変質していることが報告されている。室内実験において腕足動物の殻を異なる温度で加熱することからも確認されたが、それによって得られたアレニウスの予測式（Arrhenius parameter）を用いて、古生代の地層に埋没した腕足動物殻が経験した熱史を復元することができた。100℃以下、106-8以下の時間スケールであればほとんど問題ないらしい。

東アフリカのZambezi川の河口域で得られた堆積物コアから過去20kaの環境変動を復元。岩相のもっとも大きな変化は最終退氷期の大陸棚の浸水の際に起きていた。HS1とYDに堆積物がより細粒化し、ITCZの南下に伴うアフリカの降水バンドの南下が原因と思われる。

南太平洋の17ºS線に沿って大気と海洋のメタン濃度と炭素・水素同位体を測定。東ほど（ペルー寄り）濃度と海から大気へのメタン・フラックスが高く、海洋表層の生物生産（クロロフィルa濃度）と関係があることが示唆。

北米大陸の東海岸に位置するオレゴン沖においては最近の10年間に貧酸素・無酸素状態が確認されている。沖から得られた堆積物コアから過去数千年間の亜表層・深層水の酸素濃度を復元したところ、大きく変動していたことが分かったが、PDOなどの気候変動との対応は認められなかった。近年Mo濃度が上昇、δ13C・TOCが上昇、C/N比が低下していることの原因としては表層一次生産の強化が挙げられる。過去に100-1,000年間酸素・無酸素状態が続いたことはないため、近年のものは人為起源である可能性が高い。

西赤道大西洋のブラジル沖から採取された堆積物コアのXRF・Mg/Ca・δ18O分析などから、過去110kaの環境変動を復元。ハインリッヒイベントに伴い温度が上昇・降水および陸上風化が増加するという、これまでの知見と整合的な結果が得られ、モデル（SYNTRACE-CCSM3）からも再現された。

東南極氷床のDronning Maud Landにおける10Be表面照射年代測定の結果とGIAモデルから、氷床の融解史を推定。更新世を通して東南極氷床が少なくとも500m厚くなったことが示唆。また最終退氷期には14ka以降に氷表面の高度が50m低下したことが示唆（従ってMWP-1aへの寄与は考えにくい）。

完新世のアフリカ湿潤期においてはケニアのトゥルカナ湖（Lake Turkana）の水位が今よりも80m高く、特に8.5-4.5kaには数百年の間に50m以上の規模で変動していたことが知られている。インド洋・大西洋の海洋表層水温上昇とモンスーンの強化が水位上昇とよく一致していることが示唆。

グレートバリアリーフの岸に近い部分で得られた過去に死んだミドリイシサンゴをU/Th法で年代決定。骨格に入っていないThの除去法や補正法の開発を行った。（ほぼすべてのサンゴが死に絶えた）1997/98年の大規模白化イベントにおいて死んだミドリイシサンゴの測定から、正確に年代決定が行えることが実証された。
